So Google has redesigned the logos for both Chrome and Chromium, creating much cleaner, simple logos compared the to ‘mech’ feel of the predecessors.
What do you think? I personally quite like the older, shiny logos. They had a bit of a geeky feel to them, which is something I like about Google. I suppose the newer logos appeal to the mass market more, making Chrome seem like a browser anyone can use, not just the nerds.
I think it was easy to imagine the old logo spinning round super fast, just like the Chrome browser has been designed to run. The new logo runs a little flat in my eyes. I’m sure it will grow on me and from what I can see a lot of people have reacted positively so far, so I doubt we have another Gap fiasco on our hands.
[...] Chrome and Chromium logo changes – another Gap? « clare siobhan. Interesting choice. I like the older ones more. The new logos look boring. [...]
I love the new logos, very simple and resonates with what web developers are doing at the moment.
Glad you posted this as had not seen the Chromium logo yet
I’m actually really growing on the Chromium logo. I’ve always preferred the blue scheme to the ‘red, yellow, green’ Google colours, so the new one will take a little longer to win me over!
Nice point about the change resonating with web developers. Feels much more like an ‘app’ logo rather then a traditional piece of software.
